 Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. is currently taking applications for a summer internship in its Emergency Management Department. The ten-week program at the Wal-Mart Home Office in Bentonville, Arkansas is open to rising juniors, seniors, or graduate students who are interested in Emergency Management and are majoring in a related field such as Emergency Management, Homeland Security, Meteorology, Government, Business, Systems Engineering, or any similar program. This competitive internship is designed to provide the student with exposure to Wal-Mart's leading-edge private sector emergency management programs.

The student will be fully integrated into all aspects of the department's efforts, including working in the emergency operations center during response and recovery efforts, developing and providing internal training, and development and implementation of emergency management policies and procedures. The student will work with a number of other emergency management and security entities, including other private sector companies, non-governmental organizations, local, state, and federal emergency management agencies, and the military. In addition, the student will complete a project that is based on their skill set, interests, and needs of the company. At the end of the internship, the student will be well-versed in the efforts that go into private sector emergency operations, the importance of integrating private sector efforts into the overall effort, and will have established numerous contacts that will be extremely beneficial in their future careers.

Job Description and Responsibilities: This internship will assist in

on-going departmental projects, such as Business Continuity Planning, Associate Preparedness, and Procedure Development. As part of these projects, the intern will draft policies, develop procedures and checklists, create presentations, and conduct training that will significantly contribute to the success of the overall project.

The intern will be fully integrated into EOC activations, and will have significant opportunities to interact with departments throughout the company supporting the activation. Opportunities will be given to deal with outside entities such as the other private sector, governmental, and charitable organization EOC's.

Interested applicants should have excellent communication skills, including the ability to distill complex information and present to a broad audience.

Job Requirements: * Entering or currently in your junior or

senior year of college as of May 31, 2008 - OR -

* Currently enrolled in a graduate program or MBA program as of May 31, 2008, - OR -

* Have completed your degree but are required to complete an internship before you can receive your diploma

* 3.0 Cumulative GPA preferred

* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

* Emergency Management, Government, Business, Meteorology, or Systems
