Virginia Capital
Semester is a program that allows students from throughout Virginia (and
elsewhere) to do an internship in Richmond during the General Assembly session
without losing time in completing their studies. The core of the program is an
internship within the legislative or executive branch of Virginia government and
an accompanying policy seminar that features presentations by key government and
political leaders. Students are able to take additional courses at VCU in areas
that match their academic needs to achieve a full-time load. An internship
stipend of $1,000 is provided to participants who are registered full-time (12
credits or more).
In the
past three years, 117 students representing more than a dozen majors and 14
colleges and universities in Virginia have participated in the program, and we
hope to have another Radford student this year!
